Alexandra In Italia
Alexandra in Italia
Bella Italia! This summer, my husband and I decided to take a 2-week road trip in Italy. We started in picturesque Venice and ended in fascinating Rome. My favourite stop was the Cinque Terre, on the Italian Riviera. "The Five Lands" comprises five villages, each more beautiful than the other: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore, pictured here.
The Island of Burano, in the Venetian Lagoon, is undeniably one of the most colourful places in the world – it is a photographer’s dream. I eventually had to restrain myself from photographing every single house there, or I would have missed the boat back to Venice.
Adding to the charm of Burano are the typical italian washing lines strung outside windows. With their laundry hanging to dry, the inhabitants of Burano are unintentionally giving a glimpse into their personal lives, leading us to imagine little stories about them...
Left or right, which way to explore next? There is just so much to see in Rome! Bicycles have always been one of my favorite subjects to photograph and the Italian capital offered plenty of charming photo opportunities.
This plant immediately caught my eye in Rome, so I asked my husband to take a picture of me standing next to it. I was not really sure what I was going for… I find this photo totally absurd, but I just love it! I think it looks like I have been shrunk.
Walking in Rome feels like visiting one giant museum! You can definitely feel the rich history of the city as you wander through its cobblestoned streets. And so I conclude my Italian series here on Ludique – thank you for following along!
