My Toy Plane

My Toy Plane

Instagram has been my go-to application on my iPhone, not only for taking shots of where I live, but also for meeting creative, talented photographers to get inspiration from. The thought behind the #mytoyplane series came about after a few of these IGers started using props in their shots.

A few months earlier, my father, a pilot who has been flying his entire life, bought the special edition Kinder Surprise Eggs Airbus Collection that comes with 5 chocolate eggs with the same Airbus A330-300 models in them. These models seemed to be the perfect size, when held at arm’s length, for shots on Instagram similar to those seen on the #putaplaneonit tag.

At first, I wasn’t sure how the plane would show up. After some trial and error, I realized that there was no way I could use my own arms to frame the plane. So now, with the help of other people, I frame this little model plane in shots that make it seem real, but at the same time make sure my audience knows that this is only #mytoyplane.
