When did you start taking photos?

I had always thought it was fun to take pictures of things but only within the past couple years or so had I realized that photography and documentation of my life is something that I was really interested in and passionate about.

Color is a big theme of your work. What would you say compels you to use that as such a big subject matter?

Color makes me really happy! I like to incorporate color into as many aspects of my life as possible because I enjoy it very much. Color is also a big part of my life because my mom loves it and the house I grew up in was always very colorful and bright, so I was always in that setting.

What's your favorite color?

Ahh this is such a difficult question because I have so many favorite colors! If I had to pick one though it would probably be yellow (at the moment).

You're in California? Have you always lived there?

Yes, I've always lived in California.

Where do you find your inspiration?

It sounds cliché but I really find inspiration from life, more specifically just daily life I suppose. I really love finding color and life in places you might not expect, I very much enjoy walking around my neighborhood and finding things that make me happy and taking pictures of them. And of course I am inspired by color itself, I guess that's the main one.

Where did the name Blaize come from?

This is by far my most frequently asked question. Its from my mom, she had a childhood friend named Blaise and always really liked the name so she gave it to me but changed the spelling to make the pronunciation more obvious I suppose.

Do you shoot mostly on your iPhone?

Yes, only on my iPhone actually. I've never owned a really nice "..fancy.." camera.

Are there any particular goals you have with your photography going forward?

No big goals really! Other than maybe acquiring a nice camera sometime in the future, I would like to continue to photograph things that I enjoy and find new inspiration as well as new things and people to photograph.
